I’ve got a confession to make. Although I live right smack in the middle of Brooklyn, New York, I have a fascination with farmhouses. If I had it my way, I’d live in a beautiful blue farmhouse with white plantation shutters, flower boxes in the windows and all on 40 acres of land. But, I’ve got to put that dream on hold since God seems to have other plans for my husband and I. Lol!

While I wait on the Divine go ahead, I’ll keep dreaming about my dream house and share my ideas with you. Farmhouse kitchens are the rave. They combine function with country elegance and lots of style. To me, a kitchen is more than just a cooking space. It’s where the family gathers. It’s where memories are made. So, designing it well and keeping it functional should be a high priority.

Below are some of my favorite decor ideas for a fabulous farmhouse kitchen. Maybe I’ll just have to have my farmhouse kitchen while still living in the city. I’m sure I won’t be the first.

One thing I know for sure is that I want a neutral and light color on the walls to serve as a backdrop for my white and turquoise cabinets. Maybe the color scheme may change when the time actually comes, but for now a gal can dream.
