Fried Egg in a Hole – A Saturday Treat

egg in a hole

It’s Saturday! While most of the world sleeps in late, I get to be up at 6 a.m.! Having a 6-month old who rises at the crack of dawn has turned me into an early riser. {Not a happy camper!} I decided to treat my hubby to a nice breakfast this morning. He has been pulling double duty this week which means working 9 to 5 and then heading to the church for rehearsals till 10 p.m. everyday. Our annual spring concert is coming up this Sunday and he has been putting in the much needed time to ensure that the band is ready. Guess that’s just part of being the lead musician.

His treat was fried egg in a hole. My brother-in-law has been singing the praises of fried eggs for a while, but I just couldn’t get down with it. Well, until today.
I added some Kielbasa as a side and breakfast was served. Of course the hubster was all smiles. So what’s the verdict on fried eggs? It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I can definitely see it with some home fries. Though I still prefer scrambled eggs, I’ll have some fried eggs once in a while.
Recipe:
One Large Egg
Sliced Bread
Salt
Black Pepper
Instructions:
With a cookie cutter of your choice, cut a hole in your sliced bread
Crack the large egg and place it in a bowl {cracking it in a bowl will prevent you from getting a shell in your fried egg}
In a skillet spray some cooking spray
Place bread in skillet over medium heat
Pour egg in the hole and let cook until yoke is nice and white throughout.
Remove from heat and serve!
